Frequently Asked Questions – Nursery
-
Our facilities are called bilingual because we educate and raise children based on both the Polish curriculum and bilingual education program (CLIL and immersion). In kindergarten, we have adopted English as the second language code. For children aged 5 and above, we have introduced Spanish language classes in addition to English.
-
Our proprietary skills development program, mathematical and logical thinking – “MATH 2.0” is implemented as an innovation starting from the group of two-year-old children. With the youngest ones, we focus on developing logical thinking. In children’s mathematical education, their experiences are the most important. That is why our program is built with interesting, creative elements carried out in the most attractive form, which is play. These include elements such as: coding basics, simple puzzles, and discovery games.
-
What the shell absorbs when young stays forever. Independence instilled from the earliest years gives a child the chance to cope well in the future. They will be responsible, and making their own decisions will not be a problem. It is also of great importance that independence positively affects a child’s self-esteem. Their self-confidence and sense of independence significantly increase, which makes them feel better in a group and more easily establish cooperative relationships.
-
The unique advantage of Academy International is its own development and education method, the implementation of which begins in the nursery and continues through kindergarten to primary school. This allows our Team to get to know the Child better, discover their talents and passions, develop a vision and their personal development path with them.
-
In toddlers of nursery age, there is intensive development of speech apparatus and native language. Children perfect the pronunciation of all sounds, acquire native syntax and morphology. They use their natural, innate “language learning abilities,” communicating more effectively with their surroundings. The process of learning a second language – English – proceeds analogously to learning the native language, using the same mechanisms.
-
CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is a method of integrated language and subject teaching. Foreign language learning accompanies the entire educational process, while language teaching occurs in conjunction with subject learning. In practice, this means both English language classes where children/students learn grammar rules, syntax, sentence construction, and new vocabulary, as well as subject classes conducted in English.
-
The fundamental difference is that CLIL combines Immersion, i.e. classes in English, with the development of language skills in the form of English lessons. In summary, CLIL combines intuitive language learning with systemic learning.
-
Benefits of bilingual education using the CLIL method:
- experiencing CLIL classes allows children to gain self-confidence, forget about shyness when making their first attempts at communication,
- in addition to language and interdisciplinary content, it teaches independence, creativity, analysis, synthesis, i.e. everything that is useful in adult life,
- stimulates students’ motivation and encourages them to learn both the language and the subject taught,
- builds knowledge about other cultures and facilitates their understanding,
- develops communication skills within many cultures,
increases language competence and develops the ability to communicate orally, - develops interest in multilingualism,
- facilitates the acquisition of knowledge from different perspectives,
- enables students to interact with the target language more often,
- does not require spending additional time learning the language,
-
The youngest learn the language intuitively by observing their surroundings and participating in various events, to which they match expressions and phrases from a given language. It does not have to be one language at all, children will cope with messages in two or more languages without much stress. Similarly to learning the native language, it is important not to expect immediate progress from the child. Learning a language, both native and foreign, takes time. A toddler who has constant contact with a foreign language will sooner or later start using it to communicate with the environment. In the initial stage, the child will of course make mistakes. The environment’s task is not to correct them, but to provide the correct communication pattern.
-
Immersion is currently recognized as one of the most effective methods in teaching foreign languages to young children. Its effectiveness is influenced by surrounding the child with the foreign language and, more importantly, using the language as a tool for exploring the world, rather than treating language as a teaching goal in itself.
-
In our Academy International bilingual preschools, we implement a partial immersion program. Total immersion is only possible in countries where the taught language is the national language of that country (e.g., English in Great Britain). If the taught language is not the national language (e.g., English in Poland), we use partial immersion, which means that English accompanies children for at least 50% of their time spent in preschool.
-

Baby Academy is an adaptive class conducted in the form of creative games, during which toddlers and their caregivers actively discover the world and their abilities. Joint games take place in our bilingual environment. Classes are led by AI teachers. The aim of our classes is to build a sense of security and trust and to prepare the child to start an “educational adventure” in a bilingual nursery or kindergarten. Classes for children aged 1-3.
-
In order for the child to quickly acclimatize to our facilities, we implement our own adaptation program “Smiling Preschooler”. Before the child begins their adventure with a nursery or kindergarten, they can participate with their parents in three-day, two-hour meetings with their guardians and teachers. Depending on when they start attending, for the first few days of their stay at the facility, the child can spend time with a parent or designated guardian in classes held at the facility. Each Parent/Guardian participates in all classes and games that take place at the facility at that time, so as not to disturb the rhythm of the group and the sense of security of the other children. The educator decides how long the adaptation period lasts, taking into account the individual needs of the child.

Preschool age is the period of the most intensive development of a child. That is why in this period, care, upbringing and educational activities have the greatest impact on building a sense of security, trust and awakening the intellectual and social development of a child. A child learns to know and understand themselves and their surroundings. They develop interest in the surrounding world and other cultures, and learn tolerance. In our bilingual environment, a child, through immersion in the language, develops their linguistic competences, shapes independence, learns responsibility and cooperation. They acquire analytical competences, develop mathematical and logical skills and thinking. They learn about their strengths and areas for growth. They learn to distinguish between internal and external motivation. They practice concentration. They learn through experience. And thanks to active action, they discover interesting phenomena that govern the world. They discover how to maintain balance in life and take care of themselves, their immediate surroundings and the entire planet. Additionally, in everyday preschool interactions with other children and adults, the child learns the ability to communicate with others, learns the rules and principles that apply in a social group. And they develop all these abilities in an atmosphere of joy.
-
Our facilities build a bilingual environment of success by combining a high level of education with personality development. We are characterized by a caring, professional atmosphere and quality, positive communication, but above all by concentration and following the needs of the child. We treat education as a mission and a process that introduces a young person to the world, allows them to get to know it and discover their place in it. Therefore, we care about a joyful, creative and safe atmosphere in our facilities, which is co-created by our entire community, both children, team and parents.

Immersion, commonly called “immersion” in English, involves listening to natural, authentic statements in everyday situations that are understandable to the child. Similarly to learning the native language, the student first listens to the language, begins to understand it, and only after some time, when they are ready, uses it independently. The student is introduced to the world of a foreign language without explanations and translations in the native language – “immersed” in a foreign language, just as “immersed” was in the native language from the moment of birth.
